Everyone has undergone a day that was going all crazy. Maybe the alarm didn’t go off, or the children were tough to get organized in the morning. Then the car had a flat on the road that caused you to be late for a meeting, or a person rushing by pushed your arm and your drink spilt on favourite clothes.
Despite what bad thing or a combination of things that happened that day, there were still some shining minutes. A warm smile from a co-worker, your children telling you how much they love you or even a stranger stopping to help you with that flat tire.
Discovering ways to highlight those seemingly sudden positive minutes in life and saying thanks and showing our appreciation can turn a bad day into a great day just by a shift in attitude.
In many different kinds of self-help presentations, The core value is to have an “attitude of gratitude” in all circumstances. It is an old saying, and is more accurate today than ever since as saying “thank you” and giving a warm smile appears to be a lost art. They are open to saying thanks, showing appreciation with a smile and a kind word, and helping you to see the positivity in the world around you.
When we walk around suspecting negativity, that is just what we see. If we expect interacting with rude people, we change our behaviour to match our expectations. If we suppose to be treated politely and with kindness, and we are ready to spread those same traits ourselves, we will feel love, grace and in our lives.
One of the simple ways to improve that personal attitude of appreciation is to look for those simple yet amazing things that people in your family and your group of friends and co-workers do for you, or maybe you see them doing something positive for someone else. Make it a time to talk to them and let them know how much you enjoyed their act of kindness for another. Of course, you may also want to give thanks for something they did for you as well.
At the same time, how your entire way of looking at things changes. You will notice a difference, and where you find yourself saying thanks and appreciating those around you a lot more than in the past.
